We are proud to announce that the Delta Hotel Pool Project we worked on has won a 2020 Terrazzo Tile & Marble Association of Canada (TTMAC) Hardsurface Award for the “Restoration” category! What is the TTMAC Hardsurface Awards?
The TTMAC Hardsurface Awards recognizes and celebrates imagination in hardsurface installations. A panel of judges consisting of architects and interior designers base their decision on the quality of workmanship, level of difficulty, synopsis of the project, special features of the projects, and quality of the images submitted.
The Delta Pool Project
The 50-year-old pool at the Delta in Ottawa was becoming difficult to keep up with for hotel staff. Management decided it was time to repair the underlying concrete and waterproofing system while updating the pool with a new modern look. It was a complex renovation project which involved the renovation and refurbishment of the decommissioned pool facility. The project required structural, mechanical, electrical, and finishing work to be done in a short amount of time.
It was a challenging project but in less than 5 months, the pool was completely renovated, re-tiled, and back in service. Beautiful Spanish tile designed specifically for swimming pools was used in this project. A variety of different colours ranging from rich blues to other accent colours were used to create a visually stunning pool and promote safety by helping swimmers orient themselves as the pool depth varies. We also provided custom made depth markers and mosaics along the perimeter for the safety of the swimmers alike and added beauty.
